Creative Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and welcome to my little blog! Today, I have the privilege of participating in a Creative Blog Hop. (So, exciting!) The hop features Stampin' Up! projects by an on going list of uber talented demonstrators and friends from around the world. The amazingly talented Hallie Gainer (Handmade By Hallie) nominated me. Thank you so much Hallie! Here goes!

I recently held a Stamp-A-Stack (where you come and make 10 cards in one afternoon, lots of fun!). This one was a Christmas cards theme and this was one of the cards that we made.

I used the beautiful Filigree Embossing folder, the new tree punch, All is Calm Designer Paper, Star punch (which I used with silver paper), the greeting for this card came from the White Christmas stamp set. It only comes in photopolymer, which is fabulous because I needed to make it curve with the Deco Labels Collection framelits die. Then for some bling I added a few sequins and dimensionals to the trees.

Now for the questions:

1. What are you working on?
I have a new Stamp Club coming up this January, so I am working on one of the projects for that. I wish I could show you, but then it wouldn't be a surprise for my club members. Please keep checking back to see what it is. You will love it!

2. How does your work differ from others in your genre?
That's a hard one! I think I would say that my style is clean and simple. I really try to keep them simple so that everyone can make them, even people new to card making. I like things to lined up, straight, symmetrical, matching, and not too many steps.

3. Why do you create what you do?
Because I love it! I have loved everything about paper, stamps, stationary, stickers, etc., ever since I was a little girl. When I was little and my mom would take me into the stationary store, I was in heaven! I could have stayed there forever. It did help that my mom was very creative too! Plus, I love hearing my friends and neighbours say how much they love what I have created just for them!

4. How does your creativity process work?
Hmmm... another great question, I haven't really thought about it. I usually pick the stamp set first and then look for a sketch of some kind or if I see a card that I love that some else has done, I may CASE it with my own tweak to it. Sometimes the beautiful cardstock colours are my first inspiration. I guess I just don't have one specific way!

Now to pass the torch on to 2 other VERY talented crafters:

My first nomination is the amazingly talented Jennie Maier. Her style is clean and elegant. She adds the right amount of bling to her projects. Her ideas are great for the beginner, all the way to advance level card maker. Can't wait to see what she has for us!

My second nomination is the super talented Linda Rodenberg. Her style is also very clean and elegant. I love that you can use her cards as sketches to make your own creations. She has lots of unique projects to share with you.  Head on over and check her out!

They both have until December 29th, 2014 to post their amazing creations. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out everyone who has had the privilege to participate in this Creative Blog Hop.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed everything that you saw here!

Happy Stamping!

Gift Card Holders

Hi Everyone! Anyone else crazy busy like me? Where in the world is the time going? Last weekend I was invited to do an Open House with 6 other vendors. They had: Epicure, Thirty One Bags, Steeped Tea, Jamberry, Silpada Jewelry, Arbonne, and Stampin' Up! It was great getting to know all the different companies. Of course I wanted one of everything!

This year I decided that I wanted fancier Gift Card Holders (which I made for this event). I followed a basic pattern that I found on Pinterest, but of course I modified it! What else is new! I couldn't find the design I was looking for so I made it myself. That is one of the things I love about paper crafting, you get to design it yourself, what suits you, your style, so much fun~

Here is what I came up with. I love the way they turned out!

Altered Notebook

Hi Everyone! Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is over (here in Canada). We had a great time, enjoying the wonderful Fall colours. They are so beautiful this time of year. - I just have to tell you something (totally off topic) that birds are finally enjoying my birdbath! I am so HAPPY!

Anyway, you are not here for me to tell you about my Thanksgiving or my birdbath, you want to know what I have for you today!~

We have all seen them and think they are the cutest, prettiest book around. That's right I am talking about altered notebooks. (They really do need to be altered, they are so boring and drab if you don't.)
stampin up

I made this one for my daughter. She goes to a girls group and they memorize scripture each week. I thought this would be a great way for her to learn them and also keep them. It is working so far and she just loves it. Win win! The colours are: Melon Mambo and Old Olive.

Thank you

Hi Everyone! I hope you all took advantage of the amazing sale Stampin' Up! just had on some of their stamps, paper, envelopes and their ink pads. 15% off! I certainly took advantage of it! (maybe a little too much!) I'm still waiting for the delivery of that wonderful package. It should be here before Thanksgiving weekend! So excited!

Today's card is a Thank you card. Kind of appropriate since we are heading into Thanksgiving. However, I didn't use fall colours for this one. Maybe I should go do that, hmm...The colours I used are Crisp Cantalope, Old Olive and Always Artichoke. A little summery if you ask me. Well I didn't really want summer to end! The stamp sets that I used are: Four You, and Simple Stems, and Flower Patch.

Surprise! I'm back!

Hi Everyone! How was your summer? Hard to believe we are already into fall and this is my first post since forever!! So sorry about that. I honestly thought I could manage crafting and having the kids home for the summer. It didn't work out the way I planned! Anyway, I'm back, that's all that matters right!?

Today I have for you a Birthday card. I have used the new stamp set Endless Birthday Wishes. I really like the stamp set, all the sayings and things, however to be honest I am not sure I like the polymer stamp sets yet. I am trying to have an open mind about them, but I am having trouble just getting the right pressure when you stamp. I am sure eventually I will get it. I just need more practice time!

Here is my card...

I have many more to make, because August (hard to believe we are already at the end of July!) seems to have lots of Wedding Anniversaries in it. Here is the one I came up with the other day.

Petite Petals 'Thank You'

Hi Everyone! It seems to be a theme with me lately, 'Thank You' cards! This one reminds me of my wedding for some reason. Not that I recently got married (we're celebrating 16 years in August). Maybe it's because of the colours... who knows!

This one was very simple to make. If you need a card in a hurry, you can just change the flowers to any colour that you need. You could also sponge the edges of the flowers.

Potted Plants

Hi Everyone! Today's card is for one of my wonderful neighbours. You see, I live by really great people, who like to help each other out. The other day I was out back with my daughter and my lovely neighbour stopped to say 'hello'. Somehow the conversation lead to flowers and the next thing you know we are in her backyard admiring her beautiful flowers. Then I ask her for advise on some of my own flowers. Well, that turned into her helping me re-pot some plants with her potting soil. So, I just had to make her a 'Thank You' card!

stampin up

Here is a close up of the center of the card so you can see the detail better. I wish there was a way to get the stem of the plants coming out of the dirt better. (I'm a bit of a perfectionist, if you didn't know already!)

The pots are actually made from a Quickutz die. Not sure if anyone remembers what those are! It is the ice cream tub, modified of course!

Work of Art

Hi Everyone! How is the summer going for everyone? I am having a hard time getting inside. We have had such beautiful weather here in Southern Ontario that I am trying to be outside as much as I can. Plus, I love sitting out back watching everything grow and listening to the birds singing away!

Back to the card I have for you. About a week ago a friend of mine asked me to make her some cards. She just loves the greeting 'Oh Happy Day' from the Sale-A-Bration set in 2013. I wanted to use certain colours for this card. What do you think?

Petite Petals

Hi Everyone! Hard to believe that it has been almost 2 weeks since I posted anything! Having the kids home for the summer is fabulous, but certainly a lot more challenging to make a blog post or even get to the craftroom! Please bear with me as I figure this all out.

Today's cards have the same general layout, but I changed the greeting and the position of the little butterfly. I love how you can change one little thing on a card and get a completely different look and feeling about the card.

The gardens around my house are just blooming with beautiful colours and I am trying to capture that in my cards.

Teacher's Gifts

Hi Everyone! The end of the school year is fast approaching (last day is tomorrow!), so that means that my schedule will change too. I will still be writing blog posts, but just not everyday. I am sure you will be busy too, spending time with your kids, grandkids, vacationing, etc. Thanks for understanding!

Today, is about Teacher's gifts. They do so much for me and my kids, we just wanted to say "thank you". So, I made them Post-it note holders with pens. I have blogged about this project before and even have a tutorial on how to make them. You can find that here.

stampin up

I made 6 altogether. Two each of the same style, but different colours. Which one is your favorite?

stampin up

You can't tell in the photos, but the actual Post-it note paper is the same colour as the flowers. Example: That pink rose one has pink Post-it note paper inside and the orange has orange paper. All matchy, matchy!

stampin up

I wrote a little note in each one, for each of the teachers. Saying "thank you" for all they do and have a great summer.

Here they are all wrapped up and ready to hand out. (sorry about the photo, I remembered to take a picture just before we had to leave!) I love the way they turned out. These little cellophane bags are from Sale-A-Bration way back in January 2014. Absolutely love them. We don't carry them anymore but, we do have plain cellophane bags in 3 different sizes and we also have (we = Stampin' Up!) really cute Chevron and Polka Dot paper gift bags that would work too.

Hope the teacher's like them as much as I do!

Photo Book/Scratch Pad

Hi Everyone! Today, I have for you something a little different. A 3D project! Unfortunately, I can not take credit for this one, however I did modify it to suit my needs. I know what you're thinking! What else is new! (Just so you know I also modify recipes too!)

Back to my project. You can find the video for it here. She uses 12 x 12 sheets of paper for the inside. I only have 8 1/2 x 11, so I adjusted my measurements.

The one on the left I am giving away to a friend of mine who just got married. Hoping she might put some wedding photos in it! It's like a brag book of sorts. It will fit in your purse.

As you can see, it is a mini book. The best thing about it is that if you fill up the pages, you can always make more to add or take these ones out and put new ones in.

Petite Petals Birthday Card

Hi Everyone! I can't believe I haven't posted anything since last week! Do I still have any followers? I can't believe that it is already the end of the week! Where in the world did the time go? Enough of me babbling on!

Today's card, is a Birthday card that a friend of mine request for her mom's 75th Birthday. (I believe it's a surprise celebration, shhh!) The colours for her party are a lavender. The closest that I have is Perfect Plum.

The card base is Whisper White, layered with Perfect Plum, then Whisper White (which, I embossed using the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder). The leaf stems were cut using the old Sizzix machine thing (Old Olive is the colour of the paper). Next, I stamped one of the flowers from the Petite Petals (love this set!) in Perfect Plum. Punched out the flowers, using the matching punch. For the small Perfect Plum flowers, I used the now retired Itty Bitty Punch Pack. The little butterfly is from the Papillon Potpourri set, which also has a matching punch. The greeting is from Simply Sketched, stamped in Perfect Plum.

Gently Falling!

Hi Everyone! Today's, card is a 'Thinking of You' card. However, since I didn't put a greeting on the front, you could make it for whatever occasion you want.

I absolutely love the Gently Falling stamp set. It reminds me so much of Fall/Autumn here in Canada. It is so beautiful when the leaves change colours. I know what you're thinking, its finally really nice weather and I'm thinking about Fall - stop that! Back to the card.

If you don't have this set, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, it is retiring! Well worth your money to invest in this one. You get 12 stamps in the set. Outline of 4 leaves, Middle of 4 leaves, plus outline and middle of an acorn, and outline and middle of the Maple Leaf seeds (we call them helicopters).

Anniversary

Hi Everyone! Today's, card is an Anniversary card. I have had this stamp set forever! I just can't part with it. You know, that stamp set that has been retired for about 10 years, but you love it so much, you don't want to get rid of it. That's this one for me!

The card is going to a family member who is celebrating their 17th wedding Anniversary. Her main flower was the sunflower, so I thought this would be fitting for the occasion.

This stamp set has 4 different flowers, 1 for each season. I coloured it in using my blender pen, but now that Stampin' Up! has 'Blendabilities Markers' they would be prefect for this stamp set!

Hi Everyone! Today, I have something a little different for you. A Gift Card Holder. It's my nephews Birthday later this week, and he is getting to that age where you have no idea what to get him, so this is the perfect solution.

I have made several different ones over the years, but this one is by far my favorite. I can't take credit for it, I found it here. You can make 3 out of one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock! And it literally takes only about 10 minutes to make.

As you can see, I have made them for all different occasions. Plus you can reuse them too!

Best of Butterflies

Hi Everyone! Today's, card is a wedding card. One of my friends is getting married this Saturday! Exciting isn't it! I wanted something elegant for them. I had made another card, but I like this one much better. I hope they do too!

This Butterfly is from the stamp set "Best of Butterflies" unfortunately you can't get it any more. Absolutely one of my favorite butterflies! However, we have another really great butterfly set called Papillon (butterfly in French) Potpourri. It comes with 7 stamps, 3 large butterflies, 3 small butterflies and antennae. Stampin' Up! also made 2 punches that coordinate with both sizes of Butterflies (no cutting them out!). Totally awesome!
